That’s how the rules were initially set up (because of terrorists trying to take liquid explosives on to a plane in 2006) and I doubt much thought has been given to them since. They want to be able to see the 3.4 oz bottles or containers that you packed inside. They want it to be clear plastic so your items are easily inspected. The TSA just want you to use a little plastic bag roughly the same size as those sold and marketed as a quart bags. Check this post to see how many bottles you can actually fit when planning your packing list. So you won’t fit a quarter of a gallon of toiletries in your quart bag. You’re filling it with bottles and containers. But while it’s a liquids bag you are not filling it up with water from the tap. Quart size technically means, a quarter of a gallon. When the TSA says “quart-sized” they don’t really mean a bag that has a volume capacity of 1 quart or 946 ml. Here is the root of the problem in my opinion… So if you are using a sandwich bag you’ll have 70% of the maximum space of taking liquids on planes. The sandwich bag is a half-decent substitute when packing liquids in your hand luggage. You can see that there are numerous sizes of baggies that are 1-quart capacity. It was created using the TSA’s assertion that a 6 x 9 inch Ziplock bag is quart sized to create the formula. It’s sort of hacked together to give you something you can use when you travel. ![]() This calculator that I created below doesn’t precisely calculate the volume capacity of a quart-sized toiletry bag, but it’s close enough. What about all the other sizes of ziplock bags? Are they 1 quart or under?ĭon’t worry has you covered! Flat Quart Size Bag Dimensions Calculator And you don’t always happen to have a 6 x 9 plastic bag handy when you are packing your liquids for in your carry-on bag. There are lots of clear 1-quart bags that have other dimensions. So great, they have a cut and past answer, but it’s a bit lame. Pls remove the toiletry bag from your carry-on & place it in a separate bin for X-ray screening at security. As long as the toiletry bag is the approximate dimensions of a quart-sized bag (6″ x 9″), you’ll be good to go through the checkpoint. We don’t approve or endore any particular products. So the official TSA answer goes like this:

For campaigns where number impressions is unknown until the end of the campaign, you can true up at the end of each calendar month. If you know the number of impressions the campaign requires, that amount can be ordered before the campaign begins. Prices reflect this, making it much less expensive to use a Digital Ad license. Most websites generally have consistent pageviews month-to-month whereas advertising impressions can vary wildly month-to-month. There are a few reasons, such as the Digital Ads EULA having terms that enable usage in digital ads and on advertising networks.ĭigital advertisements also have different usage patterns compared to websites. HTML5 ads use webfonts, so why purchase a Digital Ads license rather than a Webfont license? This kit may be shared with third parties who are working on your behalf to produce the ad creatives, however you are wholly responsible for it. We'll supply a kit containing webfonts that can be used within digital ads, such as banner ads. You can use this type of license to embed fonts into digital ads, such as ads built using HTML5. If you require a Desktop license that covers additional users, simply place a new order for the same Desktop package, for the number of additional users. ![]() Please be sure to review the listing foundry's Desktop license agreement as some restrictions may apply-such as use in logos/trademarks, geographic restrictions (number of locations), and products that will be sold.ĭesktop licenses are cumulative. Desktop font licenses are based on the number of users of the fonts in other words, the number of computers in which the font will be installed. This is not to be confused with multiple multi-user Desktop licenses. These licenses are fairly common for e-commerce websites that allow their customers to interact with the font via the business' webpage interface, customize a printed hard-good product, and they'd purchase/receive the hard-good product. Server fonts can be installed on a server and used by remote users or automated processes to create items. A font downloaded with this license cannot be used in SaaS, where the service is the product rather that the item that is created. Development servers do not count toward the limit. The price is based upon the number of servers on which the font is installed. This license is valid for one year and is renewed each year that the font remains in use. XXII Daemon WebFont EULAĪ server license is required for sites, web apps, or services that allow a non-licensed user to utilize the font to create a product (for example, personalized t-shirts, PDF receipts, business cards, and pictures with captions, et cetera). If the website starts getting more traffic, simply place a new order for the additional monthly pageviews you require, as Pay Once webfont pageviews are cumulative. Those who are commuting to or from Alexandria can pay a flat rate of $2 to use the Waze carpool program until the shutdown ends on Sept. Recently, Kandasamy has worked with GPS navigation software company Waze to create an Alexandria Platform Reconstruction Carpool group. ![]() But I have noticed more people slugging because of the shutdown, too.” “The busses are very rude and tend to cut people off in the lanes. ![]() Now, she and her husband regularly drive or slug as a pair but as the shutdown continues, she finds the traffic to be much worse. Prior to joining sluglines, Davis was spending about $200 a week on tolls, gas and car maintenance. You go to the same spot at the same time and see familiar faces every day.” “I started about a year ago, and at first I was a little scared because I am a female and I didn’t know who was in the car,” says NoVA resident Claudia Davis. Despite the confusion, she continues to slug and now drives to the Van Dorn Street station, one of the closed platforms, to pick up her usual slugging partners. So, the only way we can meet up is through media, local radio waves and now the app or our social media platforms.”Īccording to Smuland, the shutdown has exhausted the system, in that people are confused about where to meet and how to navigate the traffic changes that come with it. “There are many people who ask for rides but because it’s all volunteer, it is really hard to find people who want to drive. “We always have trouble finding drivers,” Kandasamy says. Following the addition of the three sluglines this past May, Kandasamy has seen an increase of individuals coordinating via the Facebook group however, finding drivers is challenging. While there are technically etiquette rules put in place, including minimal talking in the car and no profane music, over time individuals become comfortable with people who take similar routes each day, according to Smuland.Īccording to Kandasamy, there are about 5,000 commuters who go into DC, 3,500 who travel to the Pentagon and 1,500 who head to Rosslyn & Crystal City. Smuland travels with the same two women every Monday and Tuesday, whom she has created relationships with through sluglines. “It’s a really interesting thing where people actually come together to organize and rally, which people don’t usually do with strangers in DC.” “I am pretty pro-slugging, as my husband’s father was a slug driver back in the ’70s,” says Smuland. Now throughout the region, there are 50 pickup locations-40 in Northern Virginia, 10 in DC-where sluggers can meet and commute together. ![]() When the Reconstruction Project began, Kalai Kandasamy, one of the organizers and creators of the group’s app, decided to create three new routes for commuters. While the service has adapted as a result of technology’s growth, the general premise is this: drivers offer their vehicle, “sluggers” (riders) wait at one of the designated pick up locations along the I-95 and I-66 Corridors and then three or more commuters jump in and travel to a decided destination as a group.Īnd now with the Metro Summer Shutdown in full swing, the use of sluglines may seem like a more appealing option for the thousands of commuters who make their way into DC each day. Smuland is part of a unique group of individuals who participate in casual carpooling from Northern Virginia to the District, known as “slugging,” which has existed since the inception of High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in 1971. Upon leaving her home, she travels 10 minutes out of her way to pick up other commuters, yet unlike drivers for ride-sharing companies like Uber or Lyft, there is no economic benefit. For the past six years, Jenny Smuland, a resident of Springfield, has been picking people up on her morning commute to Washington, DC on an “off-and-on basis,” as she describes it. ![]()

They said they had no one available, but would put the dog on the list and have someone come look in the area when they could. I could see tags, so I was hopeful to get a name and number. I don’t know much about dogs (Pepper and I co-exist and that’s about it, he is a mama’s boy), so I was chicken to put my hands too close to her collar. I approached where I’d seen her go in and found her plopped up under a bush, panting like crazy. I grabbed Pepper’s leash and walked back toward the dog, and she disappeared up into the bushes next to the sidewalk. I was sick of seeing dead dogs by the road so, even though I’m really not a dog person, I asked Elaine to pull over and let me see if I could do anything. Also, the letter O is often replaced by The Operator Symbol. They seem to have more threatening sentences than Slender's pages, such as "You are the sacrifice" and "No one leaves alive". In Slender Rising 1 and 2, the signs are drawn on old brown paper on wood, and often appear to be written in blood. In it's sequel, after the seventh sign is collected, the player must get to the portal whilst still avoiding the Slender Man. In Slender Rising 1, the player will escape straight away when the seventh sign is collected. There are seven signs scattered throughout the map, and the player can actually escape when all are collected. Pages reappear in Slender Rising and Slender Rising 2 and are referred to as signs, unlike Slender. The pages do not indicate having any special powers whatsoever, however due to fan correlation of Kate surviving and the pages being collected, some have assumed they have magical power. The pages appear to be written on lined paper, and have crude drawings warning the player, begging for help, and begging Slender Man to go away. Also, as of an update, when the Slender Man seemingly takes the player, the player then wakes up seemingly alive in the day (night if playing daytime mode) and can walk around a few seconds until the credits start. ![]() Their intent in the game is unconfirmed, though it's quite near obvious that the Slender Man doesn't want the player to find them all, as he becomes even more relentless as more are collected. When all of them are collected, the player can continue to escape, but the Slender Man will seemingly take them. If the player takes too long (5 minutes) to collect a page, the Slender Man will automatically spawn/become more aggressive. As the title suggests, there are eight pages scattered in locations throughout the map. The page's first and most significant appearance was in Slender: The Eight Pages. Anything before that is just hit and miss. Do you still feel as if you don’t know about pop culture?Īnything that happens now, from the time I was at university forward, I’m reasonably well-versed on. You write about how you felt culture shock when you left your family’s land and went to college, especially about music and movies. Any curriculum that you design for yourself is going to be better, even if it’s not the absolute perfect one. I hate the the word “disempower,” because it seems kind of cliché, but I do think that we take people’s ability to self-teach away by creating this idea that that someone else has to do this for you, that you have to take a course, you have to do it in some formal way. My parents would say to me all the time: you can teach yourself anything better than someone else can teach it to you. That’s something that I really value from the upbringing I got. I think it’s a belief that you can learn something. Why do you think you’re so good at teaching yourself? This actually happens plenty in the book, where you focus on a certain skill or idea and learn everything you can about it. Each chapter is structured like a short story, because I was so obsessed with them. They point out all the little tricks, the writer’s mechanisms that they use to make things work. I started listening to The New Yorker fiction podcast, with Deborah Treisman, which is just amazing, because you have these writers, they come on, they pick a short story by another writer, they read it, and then they discuss it. I read a lot of Mavis Gallant, David Means, other New Yorker writers. So when I heard of the short story, I thought, “Well, I can read more of those because they’re shorter.” I thought, “Well, I’ll just read a bunch of stories, and then I’ll get a sense of what that means.” I realized reading books takes a long time. First I tried Googling it, which was of limited use. I thought, ‘Yeah, I need to get a grip on this thing called narrative arc,’ whatever that is. Well, we had books, but we didn’t have those kinds of books.
